Carol of the Dance, Winter Concert at Broward Center for the Performing Arts

Featuring All Ensembles: Primes Choir, Apprentice Choir, Repertory Choir, Lyric Choir, Concert Choir and Chamber Singers

The Girl Choir of South Florida presents “Carol of the Dance” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Choristers from all six levels of our program will sing well-loved carols, collaborating with local folk musicians to perform with traditional instruments-flute, guitar, hand drums, and the like. Joyful holiday traditions from around the world will be explored in song-from ancient settings of chants by Hildegard of Bingen to Belgian composer Noël Goemanne’s percussive and exciting “Carol of the Dance” to rousing Yiddish Hanukkah songs arranged by the world renowned Western Wind Ensemble. The program will highlight repertoire specifically for women’s voices by composers including Handel, Clausen, Daley, and Szymko. This performance will also include professionally choreographed modern works from jazz and musical theatre genres.
